DIY: String headboard for a young bedroom

DIY rope headboard

There are many ways to personalize a bedroom. There are elements that can be adapted or created from common materials, capable of transforming the decoration of a space. Do you need proof? Show you a DIY project simple, fun and inexpensive to decorate a children's or youth bedroom.

The good thing about this type of project is that you can adapt it to an existing decoration. You have the freedom to choose the type of rope, as well as the colors and the cross pattern to follow. You will have fun with the project and you will get a original headboard that will add color to any bedroom.

To carry out this project you only need a wooden frame, a drill to drill it and colored strings. You can choose any color; try to contrast with the wall and match the bedding. The result will be more interesting if you combine two or more colors. Once you have all the materials, you just have to follow your instincts and create a random cross pattern.

Materials

Step by step

Prepare the 4 slats. Measure the width of the bed and cut 2 of them to size. Keep in mind that the side slats should be longer to act as "legs."

With a bit slightly larger than the string, drill some holes into the wood at 6 to 12 cm intervals (no need to drill holes in the leg sections).

Create a frame rectangular with the help of 4 lag screws (remember to respect the legs).

Create a strings cross pattern, tying a knot at each end to secure them. In this step, it will be very useful to have the help of someone from the family to hold the rope while the knot is tied.

Once you are convinced of the design, apply a little transparent glue at the ends of the strings to prevent fraying.

Colorful and fresh, this will be the headboard built with your own hands.
