I remember experiencing the transformation of this living through the Instagram account of its owner Serena Mitnik-Miller. Located in the mountains of Topanga, this rustic family house It is only 30 minutes from bustling Venice, Los Angeles, where one of its General Store is located.
Built in 1927, the house required a major reform to become the rustic and cozy space that it is today. The White walls they bring luminosity to the house and make the wooden elements stand out. The mid-century style furniture and handcrafted accessories do not go unnoticed either.
I love the feeling of spaciousness that exudes each of the rooms that make up this house. The high ceilings, decorated with beams made of wood, influence it. So do the walls, lined with wooden boards that were later painted white.
With the target as a base, the wooden elements stand out more strongly. The kitchen is striking, with its lower wooden cabinets and shelves in the upper part. It shares a large space with the dining room and a great family leisure area. If I like something about this space, it is the number of places where you can sit and relax.
We can find wooden chairs, wicker rocking chairs, mid-century style sofas and numerous cushions to accommodate us. The latter add warmth to the room as do the numerous vegetable fiber rugs. The natural touch is provided by the pots and vases with plants.
The bedrooms transmit serenity. Decorated in light tones with natural fabrics, they are full of small details. I especially like the baby's room, an oasis where "less is more" is a success. And the bathrooms? The wall of tiles and freestanding bathtub aged are a gem.
