Alternatives to bathroom screens

But we are not going to continue talking about the screens but about the alternatives to the bathroom screens, some much cheaper than these. And it's not, it is not essential to install a screen in the bathroom although today it may seem that it is. You can choose…

Cortina

The curtain has the same objective as the screen: to prevent splashes when we shower or take a bath. It is also a much cheaper item than this although its benefits are not comparable. They do not provide as clean an image to the bathroom nor are they as easy to clean, among others.

Despite the possible buts, curtains are a great solution and sometimes the only one if we want to prevent water from flooding the bathroom floor at all costs. In rental flats, for example, they are often the only alternative. And in general, in homes in which one does not plan to stay for so long and therefore does not want to invest money.

Shower curtains

Any element that allows us to personalize the bathroom is a good addition. And the great variety of shower curtains that exist on the market allows us not only to adapt them to the style of our bathroom, but also give it personality, ours. Smooth in endless colors or with striped prints, flowers or children's motifs for the little ones, you choose!

Just as important as the aesthetics of the curtain will also be the material in which it is made, since it will determine their resistance or the possibility of washing them in the washing machine, among other issues to take into account. Look at the label because you will have to wash them frequently!

If you are in the design phase of your bathroom, you can choose to create a shower area like the ones shown in the image below. Instead of a screen it is a small wall that separates the shower from the rest of the bathroom, avoiding annoying splashes. Very simple on site, it is much more expensive to do it later.

The good thing about these masonry walls is that you can customize them with different materials: stone, bricks, ceramics... thus drawing attention to this low wall or, on the contrary, making it go unnoticed. Also, depending on the material you use, they will not require much maintenance and will provide a lot of privacy to the shower area.

Is there no but? If there is, yes. Obviously these walls they are thicker than a bathroom screen so they take up more space in the bathroom. If the bathroom is very small, you will be greatly limiting its possibilities by adding one.

Without anything

Neither a screen, nor a curtain, nor a low wall, not placing any of these elements is another of the alternatives to the bathroom screens that we contemplate today. It is an idea that breaks with the traditional structure of a bathroom, but a feasible idea.

There are two requirements for this idea to have a good ending. The first, that the space is wide, so that when you shower the water does not splash on other elements of the bathroom. The second, that the shower tray or the floor itself have a slope such that it directs the water to the drain so that it doesn't flood the entire bathroom.

This is of course a minimalist idea that will fit perfectly in spacious and modern homes of this style. And in bathrooms that are not family and need to be shared, since otherwise it could be uncomfortable to use the bathroom while another showers and splashes, don't you agree?

There are not many alternatives to screens, but there are! And some will be better suited to our needs than others.
