I have always thought that children from a very young age should be close to nature because that makes them discover the world around them and be closer to the environment, and also, be more aware that we are part of the world and that we must respect our planet. That is why a nursery school that is oriented to this will always be a success for all the children who can play in it.
The design workshop of Yamazaki Kentarō designed Hakusui Nursery School, a terraced glass structure on a slope in Chiba, Japan. It was commissioned by the local welfare firm Seiyu-Kai. The nursery school was designed to accommodate 60 children and assume the appearance of a large house with views of the forested mountains that surround the attached structure and is a way to bring nature inside the nursery school.
The school is built entirely of glass and wood so that it gives a feeling of continuity with nature and the environment that surrounds it. This structure not only includes a wide variety of spaces for children, but also minimizes the number of blind spots for safety reasons. The architects decided to create an open staircase where each level was a different space in the room.
Other areas such as the office, kitchen or other service areas are located towards the north side of the school, bedrooms, the game room or the children's nap room are located towards the south.
The second floor has a balcony and a terrace. Natural light is maximized in all its rooms, with great ventilation and sliding doors that help make the landscape a natural extension of the indoor environment. An amazing place for children.
