The decoration of our spaces implies spending money. The styles that we like or that we see in magazines are certainly expensive, and sometimes, when one leaves the parents' house to go live alone or with a partner, what is left over is not exactly money. There we began to decorate with borrowed or restored things. But it's also a good time to be inventive and obtain decoration materials and objects from places like Sodimac, Ikea or Easy. For example, the always practical concrete blocks.
It is then about build our own furniture, considering what we already have to put in it. That is to say, we do not adapt our things to the furniture itself, but we make the furniture for those things. For example, television. How to build TV cabinets with cinder blocks
Do you need to change the furniture for the television? Are you starting to decorate your home and have a limited budget? Getting involved in its construction will help you achieve a more personal space and control your budget. It's not crazy, we can all do it!
Here the idea is to use cement blocks as a base and gradually incorporate a surface on which to support the television. It will not be difficult for you to do it and you will be able to adjust the size of the project to your budget.
What do we need to build a cabinet for television? We will only need two elements. It would be impossible to build a furniture out of concrete blocks without concrete blocks, TRUE? The boards you choose to join the blocks and create the support surfaces are also an element that we can play with. A good varnished wood, a rustic and worn wood, as we said above, the simple melamine or a good tempered glass. Each of these materials will give a different imprint to the room: traditional, rustic, modern.
Also, you can choose solid cinder blocks or those with a hole in the middle. The latter give you space to store more things, books for example. Of course, if you don't like to clean a lot, they are ideal for storing dust, so be careful!
Finally you can create different heights and use the furniture as a shelf too. The piece of furniture can be a simple TV rack or a complete shelf that goes from floor to ceiling and that, in addition to the television, includes books and decorative objects. You can even place lamps and play with light effects.
Personally, I like the combination of cement blocks and wood. Melanin may be practical and easy to clean but it's not stylish. And glass is great, but I like to combine it with iron more than with cement. Gather dust every day and you end up being a slave to the duster. For this reason, my number one advice is to go for a simple design and give the surface greater visibility by choosing solid wood…
Once you have thought about the design, you just have to get the materials and get to work; stack the cement blocks and support the surface on them. And of course, you can not only build a piece of furniture for the TV, there are other possible furniture that you can make with cinder blocks and little money: mattress platforms, bookcases, wine cellars, coffee tables, outdoor tables next to the grill, bases for sofas (blocks plus a mattress)…
