Today we bring you different ideas to create an original and homemade headboard for the bedroom. Ideas that use simple and easy to find materials and that we hope will inspire you to create your own design. Shall we start?
painted geometric headboards
Painting is a great ally when it comes to changing the aesthetics of a space. It also invites us to be creative. Although you won't have to go crazy to create a creative headboard; it will suffice, for this, that you draw simple geometric shapes on the wall like the ones shown in the following pictures.
Ssemicircles, rectangles, squares... in colors that contrast with a white wall, they will draw powerful attention. And you won't need any special tools to create them. You will be able to create the circumferences using a rope and a pencil as a compass and delimit the straight shapes after taking measurements with adhesive tape to later paint. What could go wrong? If you don't like the result, you can correct it and, as a last resort, leave the wall as it was.
Made in macrame
Do you also like macramé decorative details like I do? I admit to being a bit obsessed with them. I think they bring a lot of warmth to the home, that they make it more welcoming and that they fit perfectly with a natural and/or bohemian style, don't you agree?
Placing a large piece of macramé in place of the headboard can be a great way to make the bedroom more welcoming. And it will not be difficult for you, even if you have never practiced this technique. And it is that in the network you will find fantastic tutorials to make basic knots that will be perfect for this project.
As you can see in the images you can create very different compositions with the macramé technique. Ideally, these cover the width of the bed, the space that a traditional headboard would occupy. Once done you can place them on the wall in different ways. A tree branch, for example, will bring a greater naturalness to the space and enhance the rustic style. However, if you use polished wooden slats to frame the piece and place it on the wall, you will be betting on a more Nordic and traditional style.
Our advice is to create pieces in a single color using a natural or warm tone. And that you only introduce small brushstrokes of color, if you want, in the latter. A macramé headboard will be striking enough on its own.
upholstered tables
Do you have any old furniture at home that you are going to remove? Some old boards you found lying around and saved for a future project but never used? The time has come to do something with them! To cut nails boards of different sizes and upholster them, for example, to create something similar to the images.
It is not necessary that all tables have the same width, nor do they have to have the same height. He plays with them! You can create straight lines or rounded lines like the ones in the image with them. Then you only need a little foam and nice fabric to finish the job. Yes, you'll also need a stapler to attach the fabric to the board and screws or adhesive to attach the boards to the wall, but that's another matter.
with cushions
One of the simplest ideas to create an original and homemade headboard is to use cushions. Yes, some simple cushions can be used to pad and decorate the headboard area. They will be very practical and comfortable if you like to read in bed.
La choice of cushions, the color or the reasons for these will be important, but not more than the method of hanging them. And it is that you can use for it from leather strips with rivets to metal bars. Or, why not, a mixture of both as it does Megan Pflug.
