Here are some unusual ideas for decorate the ceiling, a surface that we usually put aside or we limit ourselves to painting in light tones to gain light and transparency; and this is a very valid option, but sometimes we seek to give a certain uniqueness to a room and if we do not have a lot of space or a high budget to modify the interior design in full, the idea of focus on the ceiling it can be a pausible solution without having to influence the rest of the elements.

In the image above, a stained glass structure curved that starts from the circular wall light and widens towards the opposite side of the room. But appearances can be deceiving, since the modernist style design is not made of colored glass, but rather a wallpaper cut out and completed with a graffiti technique, with a frankly elegant result and a marked deco spirit.

A roof of PVC is a good alternative when it comes to customizing the ceiling as a single light source, since it adapts easily to any format or surface and allows you to play with your imagination, as in this bedroom where a large custom white wall light has been designed and paneled the rest in blue by placing several LED spots inside the PVC that simulate a starry sky. Nothing to do with the typical fluorescent stickers that used to be placed in the past ...

Ceilings decorated with tiles

Tiles on the ceiling. And why not ? They add texture, relief and color without detracting from the aesthetic value of furniture and accessories. In this black and white kitchen, a geometric vegetal pattern of leaves and branches has been chosen, which is formed by joining the individual tiles. A central quadrant made with antique hydraulic tiles will bring a great artistic sense to our bedroom.

Rococo-style ceilings

To get a roof that remember the great palaces Europeans need a good plastering craftsman to obtain a surface like the ones we can see in the photographs. On the left floor they have combined modern Nordic furniture and an inlaid floor with a frescoed ceiling full of moldings and grottos. The renowned Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza created in his Fez House this impressive open volute roof that reveals the structural part of the house as if the roof were opening over our heads. Unattainable proposals for almost everyone, but its beauty and spectacularity cannot be denied.

The cheapest and simplest option is paint a mural on our own, or hire a professional who is dedicated to these issues. Here are two diametrically opposed examples: Take to the ceiling the decorative motif that stands out the most in our home (flowers in the case on the left) or dare with an eccentric design that leaves no one indifferent, although we run the risk of ending up with a ceiling like the one on the right, which will be very original, but also gloomy and in my opinion even ominous!
