How to use stripes in decoration

One of the most helpful options to bring color and joy is the use of stripes both on the walls and on cushions, armchairs, floors or curtains. But it will depend on the color, the thickness and the situation that we create one effect or another in the room where they are placed.

First of all, if we are going to place a striped wallpaper on our wall, or even if we are going to paint them, we must take into account that they create optical effects different. For example, if the room that we want to decorate has a very high ceiling and we want to make it lower a bit, we can decorate it with horizontal stripes, in this way it will not seem that the ceiling is so high. In addition, horizontal lines help to visually widen narrow spaces, for example in corridors or entrance areas to the house. But if, on the contrary, we have a low ceiling, we can create a contrary visual effect by making it rise with vertical lines on the walls, and the greater the effect the finer the stripes.

You should also keep in mind that you have the option of combine stripes with smooth areas So that it is not overwhelming, for example you can put a striped wallpaper on a single wall of the room, or if it goes throughout the room you can combine it with a smooth baseboard of the same tone.

The color of the stripes that we choose is also very important, for example the blue ones tend to remind the marine style and they are perfect for beach houses or bathrooms. Those that are in pastel tones are very suitable for bedrooms, and even for children's rooms.

We can also use the stripes to add a touch of color in a completely flat room, for example on a rug, cushions or pillows, a table runner, etc. In this way we will break the monotony produced by the smooth but without breaking with the sobriety of the room and the elegance. The stripes adapt perfectly to any style, be it classic and elegant, or modern and daring, we just have to choose the color and width of the lines well.
