Interiors decorated with Lego pieces

Wall made with Lego pieces

Either by giving the environment a playful and festive spirit or by trying to innovate with a singular finish, more and more fans of the Lego universe are choosing to take advantage of the famous construction game to create original interior designs. There are very diverse proposals but I have limited myself to choosing some that could be "reproducible" for any decoration enthusiast.

La company specialized in corporate design Npire, based in Hamburg, raised a dividing wall to separate the office from the rest of the office using 55.000 Lego pieces that cost about 2.500 euros and a year of work in which everyone collaborated during free time or when they needed to reflect to find inspiration for their projects. They chose a random mix of colors, except where their business logo is represented, which was highlighted in white.

Kitchen island made up of Lego pieces

In this private Paris apartment, designers Munchausen duo crafted a block of wood like central island of the kitchen that they lined with some 20.000 Lego tiles arranged in such a way that the visual sensation would recreate a pixelated piece of furniture, with changing optical effects depending on the incidence of light. This work inspired them to create a whole collection of furniture made with these pieces that became very famous in Denmark, the cradle of the company.

Staircase decorated with Lego pieces

Creativity was pushed to the limit in this ladder signed by the New York studio I-Bean Architecture & Design in a loft in the Chelsea area of Manhattan. The owners wanted their children to enjoy 100% of the whole house and the team came up with the idea of structuring the main element with thousands of white tiles, focusing the color on the openings that let in the light and on small specks of different shades. The railing is populated with numerous Lego figures that descend, climb, climb or pretend to jump into the void, depending on the degree of humor or the mood with which each member of the family gets up.

Restoring buildings with Lego

Because of their strength, effectiveness, and stability, they can even be useful for rehabilitate facades, as the artist Jan Vormann has shown in the Italian village of Bocchignano. Although he initially thought that it would be necessary to use some bonding system between the plastic and the stone, the mixture of large and small Lego pieces allowed him to fit both materials without the need for gluing, allowing the pieces to erode naturally (and even knowing in advance they won't last forever).

Accessories with Lego

Accessories with Lego

And for those who do not dare with these striking construction elements for aesthetic, economic or time reasons, I add here some accessories consisting of parts from Lego: A glass for toothbrushes, a key holder and a cutlery holder. We will not need to buy many units or dedicate endless hours to show off as artists and contribute our grain of sand to home decoration. And when we get bored, it will be fun to go back to childhood and take them apart!
