When we want to place rugs in decoration, we usually ask ourselves basic questions such as the location, the appropriate size and the functionality that we want to give it: Divide environments, capture the attention of a space, enlarge a room, provide warmth, etc. But there are other added guidelines more related to design or to new ways of use; I include here some established examples:
Accustomed again to seeing them hanging on the wall as it was done in centuries past, today it is possible to order rugs for the bedroom and cover the headboard of the bed in the same fabric, or reproduce the same design throughout the living room: Asplund's Kilt series offers a 120 x 120 cm sideboard. whose motif of crossed stripes in relief is repeated on the floor in a carpet of the same size; This decorative trick creates a fun visual game, giving homogeneity to the room.
Other times the carpet can be a fundamental piece in a passage area, not only for an aesthetic issue: it lengthens a corridor that is too short, gives more light by choosing a powerful color, or at the contract level it helps to direct the passage in one direction or another. In these cases it is better to opt for small models that do not eat up space, such as the Vermino rug designed in felt by Alfredo Häberli; revitalizes the classic rectangular format with a network of organic shapes, it is thin to avoid tripping and an anti-stain treatment that facilitates continuous use.
Now it is also possible to have rugs in modern design and water resistant; One of the first designers to develop this aspect has been the Finnish Hanna Corvela, whose Aqua model made of synthetic fibers and seven color options can be used in bathrooms, terraces, saunas, swimming pools, etc. It is pleasant to the touch, easy to clean, has a non-slip base, can be wet for freshness and is custom made in a maximum size of 165 cm.
