This beautiful house located in the hollywood hills, is surrounded by wildlife. Built in 1933, it is currently the cozy haven of designer Chay Wike, her husband, and their two daughters. A hideaway overlooking Los Angeles that retains some of its original charm.
Photographed by Brittany Ambrigge for Domino magazine, the interiors of this home retain many original features. The brick walls and concrete floors in the kitchen have been preserved and each room has been decorated with natural elements and colors, achieving very cozy rustic spaces.
The living room has retained the original brick and wood paneling, but they have been painted white. To decorate the room, earthy colors, furniture made of natural materials such as wood and leather, and printed textiles have been used. The modern touch is given in the room by the yellow and blue painting that presides over the dining room.
The whole house has large windows. Both the living room and the kitchen, probably my favorite part of the house, are very bright. In this space I cannot fail to mention the island and those vintage stools that surround it. Neither does that great wall bench, those leather chairs and that large copper bell outstanding!
The house has many places to relax, but also spaces reserved for work. With wooden walls and furniture, the office is probably one of the most special places in the house. The furniture and the desk in yellow tones contribute to this.
And I can't fail to mention the children's bedroom. That mix of patterns on the bedspread, carpet and trunk, surprisingly to fit. And what do you think of the details that hang from the walls and ceiling? The result is a simple and creative room to complete this rustic house.
