As we have already talked about previously in other posts, in order to talk about decoration with knowledge we must be clear about the basic existing styles since any decoration will be based on them, either faithful to a specific style or combine elements of several of them. In previous posts we have already talked about classic style, rustic style, minimalist style, oriental style and kitsch style. That is why today I want to focus on two of the most current and fashionable styles, the loft style and vintage style.
6.- Loft style:
This style of decoration is specially designed, as its name suggests, for open-plan or loft houses where there are no divisions between rooms and large spaces. It is based on the idea of reusing industrial spaces as housing, and for this reason elements and materials are used that are reminiscent of this industrial era and that began to become fashionable in the 50s in New York.
It is characterized by the use of materials such as exposed brick, metal, plastic and glass; and for giving great importance to light and rectilinear shapes.
It can sometimes turn into a cold style due to the type of materials used.
7.- Vintage Style:
The main idea of vintage style is to recover and adapt old or retro styles and elements to today that have a minimum of ten years of life. But it must be combined at the same time with modern and current furniture and elements, from that combination a perfect vintage decoration will be born. The quintessential retro elements that are being used in this type of decoration are, for example, chandeliers, antique armchairs, wallpapers from the sixties and stenta, etc. It is a perfect style to recover the furniture of neutral parents and grandparents and give them a new look.
