Symmetry in the decoration of the living room and dining room

When using symmetry to decorate a living room or dining room It may be somewhat more complicated at first than doing it in a bedroom since we do not have the bed as the central object for the distribution of the furniture, but there are other elements such as the dining table or the sofa that can perform the same function and serve us axis to distribute the room.

In a living room we can achieve symmetry both with the largest furniture and with the smallest elements such as vases or ornaments. If we use a sofa as the central axis, we must distribute the rest of the elements with respect to it with a simple symmetry. If we choose to place a sofa and some armchairs, the most advisable thing is that they are located on both sides or in front parallel to the armchair, being able to put a central table and a carpet that delimits the space on the floor. If we place a floor lamp on one side, we will also have to place another of the same shape and size on the opposite side to maintain balance. If instead we want to place 2 armchairs to maintain symmetry, they should be placed one in front of the other as if it were a mirror.

In the case of dining rooms, it is easy to create a symmetrical decoration if we use the table as a distribution element of the space. The chairs must be placed in parallel on one side and the other and the lamps that hang from the ceiling above it must be located either in the center or on both sides, without forgetting the decorations or centerpieces that must follow the same pattern.

In this type of design, other elements of the room must be taken into account such as curtains, color, lamps, carpets and even mirrors or pictures that hang on the walls, everything must be strictly thought and placed so as not to break the balance and harmony that we seek in our decoration.
