If there is something that brings charm, majesty, elegance and drama to a spacious space is a vaulted ceiling; When one is lucky enough to have an old house, it will be feasible for one of the rooms to have maintained the vault over the years, but it is usual for one to decide on their own to create a vaulted ceiling for mere artistic whim or for various decorative motifs, such as gaining light and transparency, making the most of certain dead areas of the wall or hiding the electrification of the entire floor without having to resort to the classic white plasterboard (as in the immaculate hall in the image on the right).

The formats are very varied and the result can be really spectacular, but decorating a room with a vaulted ceiling is a challenge and it is necessary to calculate very well the proper incline and not letting our creativity prevail over the structural elements and materials, as we see in the loft in the image above where we have opted for color uniformity and a large opening gabled roof with light beams that contributes to improving general lighting and extends the total height of the floor without breaking with its bohemian and seemingly chaotic style.

The vaulted gabled ceiling refers to the Scandinavian world and its Viking roots, especially if the wooden beams are dark or painted for that purpose, creating contrast in a "molding" effect that enhances the separation of each zone; On the right we see the opposite example where the Romanesque-inspired vault is nothing more than a decorative excuse to draw attention to the difference in height on the floor and the stained glass window, which functions as a gazebo.

Rustic vaulted ceiling

Una stone vault In the style of the ancient catacombs, it can be merely decorative, but the texture and richness acquired by the ceilings make its sought-after imperfection of a great personality to a place like the kitchen, where it will also provide freshness and isolation; here the opposition of the rustic ceiling and wall finish stands out against the latest generation appliances and the Corian countertop.

All the starry vaults that resemble gothic domes are highly appreciated but can greatly condition the rest of the decoration of said room, which will require powerful furniture, a combination of color and cold materials such as polished concrete or chrome steel to counteract mottling. A ceiling with an Arab spirit like the one in this splendid toilet invites you to relax and recalls those Turkish baths where the vaults usually highlight their semicircular format with fresco painting.
