If you live with people with mobility problems - whether due to age, illness or physical dysfunctions -, surely you have realized the problem that many times represents being able to access the bathroom in the most autonomous way possible. To achieve this, a total reform and redecoration of the space is mandatory on most occasions.
In fact, a series of works and reforms are essential to facilitate accessibility, avoiding accidents. We analyze the different adaptations necessary.
To begin with, it is essential to change the bathtub for a shower, to avoid falls and accidents when entering it. And even better that the space is designed taking into account that it is flush with the ground. It is also important to place non-slip mats and / or grab bars inside the shower and next to the toilet.
In the same way, do not forget that in specialized stores you will find accessories to facilitate activity in the bathroom, such as bath chairs, risers for the toilet and special showers. Nor can you neglect the air conditioning of the space, either with electric stoves or with a global heating system of the house.
Finally, it is recommended that when redecorating your bathroom so that it can be used by a person with reduced mobility, the door is sliding or always opens outwards to avoid that, in the event that the user suffers a fall, prevents the passage of stay.
