If you want decorate your terrace or balcony with plants and flowers and make it spectacular during the summer seasonIn the first place, you must pay close attention to a fundamental factor, the sun that that area of the house receives. If it is one that faces north, it will surely be in the shade throughout the year. This data is important to choose between one or the other plants, since there are plants that do not support the sun and others that are perfect for receiving ultraviolet rays for many hours. And following this distinction, I want to make a small list of the most suitable plants in each case:
- Una terrace in full sun:
If what we want is to have many flowers and brighten our balcony with a wide color, we can choose petunias, surfinias, verbenas or geraniumsThey are very resistant to the sun and heat. They are also perfect for planters or small pots if we have little space.
If we are looking for something larger also with flowers, the roses They are also for very sunny areas, and within this type of plant we can find a very wide variety of classes, from dwarf roses to climbers or shrubs. It is best to choose the type that best suits our space.
- Una terrace in full shade:
To have a balcony full of flowers, you don't need the sun, there are several types of plants that surprise us with wonderful and very colorful blooms without having to see the sun. We can choose for example begonias or alegrías, or a variation of the latter, the joy of New Guinea, na plants with dark leaves and very showy flowers that are beautiful in any corner or planter.
If what we want is a medium-sized bush or small tree plant, a camellium will be perfect.
- Una semi-shaded terrace:
For terraces where most of the day we have shade but a few hours of the day the sun shines on it, we can choose the fuchsia, also called the queen's earrings, or a dipladenia, which produces large bell-type flowers and can also be used as a climber.
And if we prefer a slightly larger flower plant, we can choose to place a hydrangea, but it should not give it the sun in the afternoon or the wind.
