We all know how useful boxes are for keep closets organized and shelves in our home. The boxes allow us to group different elements by categories and locate them easily. The stores specialized in furniture and accessories for the home know it; hence they include them in different formats in their respective catalogs.
To the wooden, cardboard or plastic boxes that are already so popular in our homes, the felt boxes / baskets. In mainly gray tones, they fit perfectly in Nordic-style spaces, but not exclusively in them. With sober designs and rounded shapes, they can be useful in different rooms of the house.
Made from a blend of wool and rayon fibers, felt is a lightweight, moldable material; characteristics that make it a comfortable material to work with. Hence the great variety of felt baskets that we can currently find on the market at relatively inexpensive prices. Disadvantages? Which are more delicate than wooden or plastic boxes; a fact that depending on the use we want to give it, we will have to take into account.
Although it is possible to find felt in a wide range of colors, the grays have no competition when it comes to looking for baskets to organize our home. There are few exceptions, generally designed to decorate children's spaces. Although the designs are usually sober, some incorporate contrasting leather elements such as handles or shoulder straps.
We can use the felt baskets in the bathroom to organize towels or in the kitchen, to do the same with the rags. In a reading corner, they can be used to collect our books and next to the desk they can be useful to store stationery or writing tools. We can also use them to organize children's toys or sewing.
Finding them is not difficult. In stores like H&M Home or Ikea they are on sale from € 9,99. It is also possible to find us in the small artisan shops on Etsy; Aika Felt Works, Skandinavious, Look Dedign, Woolly Cluds, and Stich Haltig are some of my favorites.
