How to clean a down comforter

Now that summer has arrived, the last thing you want to see on top of your bed is the down comforter. That quilt has been doing very well all winter, for the reality is that now it will be better stored in the closet until next year. But before storing it, you have to learn how to clean it. Your comforter may have a label saying that you can only dry clean it, but there are more ways to keep your down comforter clean.

Put it in the washing machine

Put your quilt in the washing machine without any other clothes. Do not refill the washing machine forcibly because you could damage both the duvet and the washing machine. If your washing machine is not big enough, then you will most likely have to go to a laundry in order to get good results.

Mild detergent

Use the mild detergent sparingly, make sure the detergent is not colored because it could stain your quilt.

Cold

You will need to run the washing machine on a cool, gentle cycle. When you finish washing it in the washing machine and remove it you may see the gray duvet, but do not worry because this is totally normal when it is wet.

Dryer?

It is best to tumble dry the comforter to avoid mold or bacteria between its feathers, then you can put the comforter in the dryer but in the lowest position possible. You can add drying balls for a better result. Use multiple tumble dryer cycles until you make sure your duvet is completely dry, otherwise it won't look good.

It is worth keeping it clean and fresh until the cold starts again, since this way you can enjoy your duvet again as if it were brand new ... every time you wash it again!
